Warum Schlager? 

Have you ever gotten stuck at midnight in the middle of nowhere in Germany, with no backup bus from the Deutsche Bahn?  Have you ever missed your connection at the border because the German ICE crew was late arriving from another train?  Have you ever paid for a seat reservation and then lost it because your train was cancelled?  Complaining about the Deutsche Bahn is practically a national pasttime in Germany, and what better way to do a takedown than by Schlager Musik?

"Boot Statt Bahn" (English- "Boat over train") was composed for a scene in the 2022 Dutch short film Entertain Me directed by Beek Groot.  The function was simple: the German tourists on board the main character's cruise ship needed some great music to listen to, so Sebastian and I got to work creating the next great Schlager hit.  Once the piece was written, we brought Nocator on board to track the vocals, and for a final touch we recorded an audience at the Netherlands Film Academy to make Nocator into a famous Munich beer hall singer.

"Boot Statt Bahn" can be found on all streaming platforms from September 30th, 2022-- just in time for Oktoberfest.  Prost!  In the same week, Entertain Me will screen in Amsterdam and throughout the Netherlands as a part of the Keep an Eye Filmacademie Festival 2022, and will also be available from October 6-12th at https://picl.nl/
